I’m gonna be honest. I am NOT a fan of salad. Now before you go all veggie-power on me, let me explain. I’ve enjoyed many a delicious salad, even written recipes for delicious salads that I both enjoy serving and eating. However, in the battle of salad vs. non-salad, I’m usually firmly planted in the non-salad camp. This may come as a surprise to anyone who’s had dinner at my home, since we frequently have salad as a side dish (salad equality and all); but, my salads are usually hearty, full of protein and indulgent, or at least they make me feel indulgent.
My go-to trick for enjoying a creamy salad dressing (the creamy ones are my favorite but tend to be the high-calorie ones, because I wasn’t lucky enough to be born with the “I prefer the taste of air” gene), is to enjoy all of the flavor without the guilt by cutting the dressing with something healthier.
Simply, place half of the dressing you’d normally use in a bowl, then whisk in an equal amount of low/non-fat Greek yogurt or low/non-fat sour cream. It’s a great way to enjoy the flavor of indulgence, without feel as though you’ve over-indulged!
